McIntosh College Associate Degree Program:
 Accounting
The Accounting program is designed to integrate accounting theory with practical applications. Students can develop an in-depth knowledge of the accounting discipline with a high degree of professionalism and a commitment to ethical standards.
Emphasis is on the practical application of accounting theory through case study, projects and computer simulations. The Associate Degree program is designed to offer an excellent foundation for students seeking careers as accountants, bookkeepers, accounts receivable/accounts payable clerks, or payroll coordinators.
Business Management
Our programs in Business Studies provide the student with a broad foundation in modern business theory and with the professional skills and mental discipline needed to compete in today's constantly changing business world. Students will be introduced to all facets of the business world including management, marketing, accounting, finance and computer applications.
Emphasis is placed on case study analysis, business applications software in which students are asked to research, analyze and solve business problems. Career opportunities include areas as administration, retail management, personnel services, marketing and advertising.
A student in the Business Management Program has the option to work with faculty to design an interdisciplinary program of study leading to an associate's degree in Business studies. Students may select and combine courses from several disciplines in addition to the general education requirements in order to construct a curriculum reflecting their specialized interests.
Criminal Justice
The Associate Degree in Criminal Justice is designed to prepare the student to work in a wide range of public and private service environments including law enforcement, probation, insurance, investigation and corrections. The Criminal Justice program combines the technical, administrative and interpersonal skills required of the criminal justice professional with a strong foundation in the social, ethical and legal issues which he or she will confront on the job.
All Criminal Justice majors are required to complete CPR-First Aid Certification. Seminars are offered regularly at McIntosh College and are in addition to regular tuition fees
Paralegal Studies
Over the past several years, paralegals have taken on an increasingly important role in providing legal services. Today, the professionally trained paralegal can look forward to an exciting and challenging career. McIntosh College, in conjunction with a team of prominent local attorneys and paralegals, has developed a flexible and comprehensive training program in Paralegal Studies which provides exposure to the academic and technical foundation necessary for a successful career in the paralegal field.
Students will be exposed to the skills necessary to work as paralegals in large firms, corporate legal departments, banks, or the offices of individual attorneys. Paralegal Studies students will also explore opportunities in neighborhood legal service agencies, federal and state court systems, or government offices. All McIntosh paralegal students receive intensive legal course work and a well-balanced curriculum of liberal arts, communications and business and computer courses.
In addition to traditional legal research training, paralegal majors receive computerized research training using Westlaw, one of the nation's most comprehensive on-line legal databases.
Each spring McIntosh College is the test site for the Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) Exam administered by the National Association of Legal Assistants. Paralegal students are encouraged to take the course and the CLA Exam.
Medical Assisting
Medical Assisting is an exciting and challenging program of study which exposes the student to a wide variety of health care environments including hospitals, physicians' offices, clinics, laboratories and state health facilities. The Medical Assistant is an important link between the patient and the health care delivery system and provides essential support in the areas of patient care, medical and lab procedures, records management and office administration. Students will be introduced to practical, administrative, interpersonal and clinical skills which will help prepare them with the technical ability and versatility needed to establish a medical career.
All Medical Assisting majors are required to complete CPR-First Aid certification. Seminars are offered for an additional cost. Please see the Registrar's office for more information.
Medical Lab Technician
Today, Medical Lab Technicians are crucial members of the Medical Lab team. These healthcare professionals conduct tests on blood, tissue and other specimens including immunology, hematology and urinalysis. The results of there tests are used in the diagnosis and treatment of patients’ conditions and utilize microscopes and other precision instruments. Medical Lab Technicians also have responsibilities for lab quality control, including preventative and corrective maintenance of equipment or the outsourcing of that repair. Medical Lab Technicians are employed as support personnel for pathologists and other physicians and also work in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities which require analysis and testing of blood, urine and other specimens.
Fashion Merchandising
Fashion Merchandising connects every entity of the fashion business. It is the heart of the industry where all facets including the designers, the stylists and the retailers, are joined together to achieve one goal… to meet the demand of the consumer.
The Fashion Merchandising major at McIntosh College gives students the essential background necessary to coordinate the creative and business ends of the industry. Students have an opportunity to learn how to determine trends, monitor the economy, visit the marketplace, price a garment and put a line together, as well as the operation of a retail store – both large and boutique.
The Fashion Merchandising program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in the fashion merchandising and retail industries. Business, marketing, management, and sales principles used within the fashion industry are presented as a means of developing concepts and refining merchandising skills.
Our curriculum can develop competent multitasking skills, integrating conceptual and creative abilities with technical and sound business practices that prepare our students for successful professional careers in fashion.
Graphic Design
The Graphic Design program will expose students to theories and aesthetics of effective design while at the same time offering the practical applications of the industry current design technology.
The field of Graphic Design is a highly demanding one offering exciting employment opportunities. Therefore, the Graphic Design curriculum of the Academy of Design & Technology at McIntosh College will provide students with the intellectual and practical abilities necessary to attain worthwhile computer skills that will enable them to find productive and rewarding careers as professional graphic designers.
Professional Photography
The Professional Photography Degree program is designed for those students who want to take their passion for photography to a career level. It combines both digital and traditional techniques using professional medium format equipment and industry current software for all types of media. You’ll use equipment and learn photographic techniques to create assignments in both portraiture and product illustration within the studio and on location.
To understand the digital darkroom process, you’ll be taught techniques in equipment calibration, color management, image enhancement and manipulation, and scanning. Besides developing the skills to enter the various photographic occupations today, you can learn how to own and manage a business, and you may participate in an internship as part of your curriculum.

Massage Therapy
The Massage Therapy Program is designed to prepare students for an entry level position in one of the most engaging and exciting fields today. The courses are designed to develop the knowledge, specialized skills, and understanding of the role of each student in becoming a successful licensed massage therapist/bodyworker.
This certificate program is structured to provide a balanced education of the art, science and ethics of massage therapy/bodywork through theory, lecture and application that meets state and national certification requirements.
Upon completion of the Massage Therapy Program, a McIntosh graduate may work in an entry level position as a massage therapist in a variety of health care facilities, including but not limited to a massage clinic, hospital, chiropractic office, nursing home, health club, spa, resort or private practice. Therapists may be employed in urban, suburban and rural areas.
The versatility of a career in massage therapy should allow a graduate to develop a clientele, be involved in the operation and management of a modern business office and maintain a professional massage therapy practice. The broad range of specialties within the field can allow the massage therapist to continue to expand their repertoire to enhance personal and professional growth.
