The Somerset School of Massage Therapy has been a driving force in the development of massage therapy in New Jersey. Somerset School of Massage Therapy (SSMT) was the first massage school in New Jersey to receive COMTA accreditation. SSMT is the only school in New Jersey formally associated with the American Council of Education and with courses, which are recommended for college credit by the ACE College Recommendation Service.

Courses at Somerset School of Massage Therapy are approved for college credit recommendation by the American Council on Education. American Council on Education is a cooperative organization serving over 1,900 colleges and universities across the country. American Council on Education's College Credit Recommendation Service reviews in detail every aspect of a course including the syllabus, learning objectives, content, instruction and testing. If a course meets American Council on Education standards, it is then "recommended" for college credits. A student wishing to obtain college credit must contact the accepting college. The accepting institution makes all final decisions on the awarding of credits. Somerset School of Massage Therapy cannot guarantee the transferability of any credits to any other school.

Curriculum
The core of our curriculum is our Professional Track, a 600-hour program that fully prepares you to embark on a career as a massage therapist. When you complete this program you'll possesses competent therapeutic skills and a better ability to understand and cater to your client's unique needs -the two essential components of a confident, successful practitioner. You may choose to take the full-time, 6 month class or the part-time, 12 month class.

Student Finance

At Somerset School of Massage Therapy, our educational programs are backed by student support services, including a financial aid office to assist students to achieve their educational goals. Students are provided with a variety of options to pay for their educational program and related expenses that include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. No-Interest Payment Plan: a no-interest payment plan with an initial down payment and regular payments due each month.
    • Educaid Select Loan program helps qualified applicants cover education costs beyond the reach of federal aid programs. They offer competitive interest rates and flexible repayment schedules. The application can be processed through our financial aid office.
    • Private Loan Financing: SLM Financial is a Sallie Mae company that specializes in providing loans specifically designed for education. SLM offers a wide range of programs with rates as low as 1% above Prime and terms up to 180 months. Applicants generally receive approval in as little as 72 hours. SLM loans are available for qualified applicants and loan applications can be obtained and processed through our business office.
  2. Federal Financial Aid for those who qualify: Students enrolled in the Professional Track program are eligible to apply for federal financial aid in the form of Pell Grants and Stafford Loans. Students are not required to repay the government for the amount of the Pell Grant. Stafford Loans are provided at a low interest rate and can be paid back over a ten-year period. Stafford Loan repayment generally begins 6 months after graduation, withdrawal or dismissal as a regular student from SSMT (or a change in student enrollment status). Students applying for these programs must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid Form (FAFSA) online or submit a paper application. Applications are available online and at the Somerset School of Massage Therapy financial aid office. Instructions for online filing and additional information about federal financial aid programs is located at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The Somerset School of Massage Therapy school code is 035744.
  3. Qualified students may be eligible for education benefits administered by the U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs (VA). Somerset School of Massage Therapy programs have been approved for VA education benefits.
